Marlinspike by Avonia Artisans

A sailor's best friend, the marlinspike used in such tasks as unlaying rope for splicing, untying knots, drawing marline tight using a marlinspike hitch, and as a toggle joining ropes under tension in a belaying pin splice.

These spikes are made by Avonia Artisans, a local blacksmith shop in Springboro, PA. Manually shaped from 1045 Carbon Steel and heat treated to be resistant to warping and impact damage, these tools are meant to be as tough as the sailors they serve.

Custom made spikes may be commissioned through the artist.
